II. Footsteps on sand – tanka collection

This is an excerpt from my second book, “Footsteps On Sand – tanka collection”, available now in kindle version on Amazon and in paperback and e-book version on Lulu.

Footsteps on Sand
by Ebn Zaiat

This autumn morning
Fresh footprints
On cool white sand
Leading to the lake-

Toe faintly outlined
Heel deep and clear
In a growing desire

What intangible Goddess
Went that way
On the beginning,
Of a perfect day?

longing                                                                          crush

if i was your smile,                                                         words die in my palm
i could swing in the cradle                                            as my eyelids caress them…
of your mouth’s corner…                                               frozen seconds mourn…
each day i could kiss your words,                               my soul is drawing answers
and feel the warmth of your breath…                        out of broken mirrors shards…

self-portrait…                                                             forgotten

light won’t reach my eyes…                                        the garden’s old gate
for where my eyes carry me                                      creaks in the evening’s silence,
light isn’t born yet…                                                     opening slowly –
i’m only a wanderer                                                     but the only guest tonight
among dry unspoken words…                                   is just a warm summer breeze…

reflections                                                                  autumnal

look in front of you –                                                   golden falling leaves,
writing raw words on mirrors                                 testimony of sadness –
won’t change their meaning…                                  autumn’s hourglass…
sunrays have the same essence                               memories of the sunrays
even if drowned in water…                                      flying through the misty air…

love                                                                              word master

you hold my heartbeats                                            behold me, reader,
in your shyly hidden palm,                                       riding your dreams in the night,
like the softest dream…                                             melting into lust…
streets not yet walked in the rain                           i am the scent of the words
wait for our footsteps’ kisses…                                spreading all over your tongue…

ephemeridae                                                           sanctuary

questions unanswered                                              there’s no safer place
bond my soul to living sands                                   for my name in this whole world
as stars fade away…                                                 than your mouth, my love…
my eyes ride the wind’s horses…                            your voice is its guardian
the sun rises once again…                                        and your breath – its wings to fly…
