Thin borders

Sunlight smashes itself against butterfly wings
only to further bounce its remains towards the grains of dust
disturbed by my breath –

you hush,
melting my silence in your own,
and you smile,
amused by the lack of answers.

Somewhere
there’s peace between the kings and queens
on a chess table –
but not on our own.
