prolonging the agony, indigo flowed slowly
in an ocean of whispers
soughing like the scent of musk brushing
the silky skin of the verbs in your mouth –
my wings, pinning your thoughts
in the air, braided their silences as if
their inertness helped your lips
crush my name against the dying sunlight –
my night falls gently, a sweet bruise on
the face of unspoken truths, a tender burden
on the shoulders of unwatered orchids, and your armor
drops shining at the root of my darkness
