salty sonnet

DSC06302the future crumbles in my rusty thoughts –
one cannot think of future when the past
is conquering your grounds at much too fast
a pace. the blood inside you slowly clots,
and while regrets were once just distant dots
they quickly turn into a view so vast
that overwhelms your mind, and soon you cast
away all hope to clean the dirty spots.
you can but swallow all the bitter knots
that form within your throat – then sorrow’s blast,
no matter for how long its taste may last,
will vanish at some point. so draw your lots
and see, beyond the sins you have surpassed,
what good along your lifeline also trots.
