Lesson of time – sonnet

for my children – and not only for them 🙂

It’s time again for autumn’s rusty fingers
To kiss goodbye the summer’s wasted sands
And mercifully tame the heat that lingers
Upon the tired stony bones of lands.
It’s time, my child, to kiss goodbye the sorrow
And let the rain wash out the stains of pain
Still covering the dust of thoughts – tomorrow
The dust will fly on wings of wind again.
It’s time to let the time resume its flow
And to let go the past – it’s time to learn
That seeds need both the rain and sun to grow
And rain can also make your spirit burn.
So free your heart and mind from pointless strife –
It’s time for you, my child, to live your life.
