causality

your appleish scented voice
surrounded with a green halo
the sounds forming on your lips
while i was forcing my mind
to acknowledge the roundness of the word –
‘goodbye’…

and then the door closed behind you…

i hated green apples ever since…

I’m tempted by this juicy piece to hate green aplles too. Well done, Lily, and it is perfect for the prompt: smell, vision, sound … with a hint at taste. 🙂

  2. Smell creates such associations, doesn’t it? You’ve used it as the keystone of this poem but other senses, like the closing door, add to it. Thanks, Lily

Oh what a shame. Smells can create very strong associations with events in our lives. Could hear the finality of that door closing too. Nicely done in a few well chosen words.
